Rest

You need to slow down before you can speed up.

Who is busier? Who has more important things to do? Are you in a competition of who can get more out of the work day? Obsessed with your to do list? Is this where you find your value? Do you feel comfortable being driven by chaos and fear?

Do you feel something is wrong with you when welcoming the idea of rest?

It may not feel safe to rest for different reasons, but what if you just give yourself permission to? What if you would trust your desire to calm down? To just breathe?

I sometimes feel like living in two worlds. One being the yoga world – no, I’m not only talking about the asana practice, but about all the practices, such as meditation, yoga nidra, mindfulness, breathing techniques etc. The other world being the business work, the daily challenges, high speed and useless competitions.

Never underestimate the practice of rest and calm. Many years ago, I had a breathtaking experience during a yoga nidra session – I left my body. Relaxing was never easy for me as a named control freak, so you can imagine my surprise. I was fully conscious, feeling, seeing, yes even thinking something like, gosh what’s happening here? It was such an incredible experience and when I told my teacher about it, he just smiled at me, saying, so you experienced your subtle body! Congrats!

It was as if all the theory, all the teachings proved to be true. I’ve got a glimpse. This was just the beginning. I understood, that conscious rest and sense withdrawal isn’t just being lazy and hanging around, but can be an intense experience of another dimension. It doesn’t has to go to the extreme each time, but it is about nourishing the body, recharging, connecting. Meeting your true self.

So let’s merge both worlds in a sense of implementing the calmness into the crazy.

Let’s do it together, join my 3 weeks course, „The Transformation“

Yoga is a personal practice!

Yoga classes are great, but only in a one to one session you get the full attention of your teacher. A private session will be made for you individually and the focus is on your requirements and objectives. It is a great way to bring your practice onto the next level and ensure you’re perfectly aligned to support your body and mind.

Give yourself the gift of a private yoga session! While we are thinking of how we could do something good for our partner, family or friends, particular now for Christmas, what about a private yoga session? No matter if first time or experienced yogi, the session will be created for that person.

The best advice ever

Years ago I was facing the first yoga class that I had to teach and I was so nervous. I had issues talking in front of a group of people, but obviously couldn‘t avoid it in that situation. A friend gave me an advice: connect to your own love before you go into the shala and all will be good. To be honest, this didn’t sound promising, but rather strange. However, I just did it. It made me smile and you know what, fear and smiling doesn’t go together. I had a great class and since then, my problem is solved. I love teaching and can‘t even imagine anything better!

No matter the situation, whenever you face fear or anger, when you feel upset, helpless or nervous, do that.

Close your eyes for a moment and feel the love inside. We all have that, we all can do it. As soon as you connect, love spreads inside and you are nothing but love. This will be the driving energy and there won‘t be any room for negativity, no matter the form.

A few days ago I was really upset and I felt anger coming up. Only the next day I remembered the advice I was given many years ago – I connected with my inner love and the anger disappeared immediately. Plus, if you are spreading love and start shining, others will react on this. I learnt once again and this time, I will keep it in my mind, as it works in every situation.

When will you give it a try?

PAUSE

Today is new moon. The moment of stillness. The old does not longer exist, the new is not yet there. Time to rest. Time to look inward. Get clarity on what you really want and set an intention.

I never felt like this before. My body is tired and so is my mind. Empty. Done. I need a proper rest. Not just a few hours. It‘s time to leave the business behind and take it really slow. Do something different, go where there‘s nothing to do. Start breathing. Feel the nature around and also feel me.

Connect to my floors:

  • The bottom, re-ground myself and connect to my stability
  • The middle, appreciate my ability to handle the world
  • The top, activate my vision to play imaginatively

One week to keep on going in the center of the craziness. Followed by some time to exactly do that. Pause. Reset. Refill.

Go for some yummy yin yoga today, respect the new moon and its energy. Practice slow today. I just did, it felt so good!

Happy New Year

Yogis, let’s go for the next big step in 2018:

The new magic term is „self-care“. Make it your number one priority!

You might have already established a fitness routine and maybe you eat healthy, which is great. What’s new is, instead of squeezing some time in at lunch or after work for a yoga class (or any other activity), make it a priority on your to do list. A time in your calendar, that is untouchable, as it is YOUR time. A busy time in your schedule, so it can’t clash with any other appointments.

Allow your main goal to not be fitness related, but to get grounded, to be connected with yourself and feel happy, healthy and at peace.

Incorporate a daily meditation practice, this will have a huge impact on calming down your mind. And focus on a mindful approach when managing your day.

Nothing is important, but you. Nothing counts, but your wellbeing. Whenever you might experience stress, take a couple of deep belly breaths and let your answer be a smile.

Take care yogi, take care of yourself, you are your priority!

Nourish yourself

Sometimes, it doesn’t need much, a moment for yourself, just some minutes me-time. Calm down, release, recharge and most important: establish a deep connection and feel yourself.

Take a moment, sit down. If possible on the floor, cross legged. Lengthen your spine, close your eyes. Bring your awareness to your breath. Allow your breath to be audible. Listen. Feel. Slow and deep belly breaths. Now make your exhales longer than your inhales.

Continue. While listening to your breath, recognize the messages your body is sending. Start with your brain. Bring your awareness into the center of your brain. And soften. Recognize how same time your face softens. Your forehead, your jaw.

There might be other parts of your body claiming ‚here please‘! Bring your awareness to each section. Maybe your hips, your knees, your feet. Sit still, don’t move, keep your position. Only your awareness wanders. Allow this particular region to release. To soften. Any stiffness or tension will immediately disappear. Your body will thank you.

When you’re ready, close with sitting one more minute in stillness. Take a deep inhale and exhale, before you open your eyes.

Some minutes to get in contact with yourself. Some minutes of self-care. Some  minutes of precious nourishment. Because you deserve it.

Self care

Practice steadiness and ease. Inner strength, but also soothing and sweet. How can this work? My view: it’s all about being kind to my body, instead of stressing it. Doing my best, challenging body and mind, by fully respecting my limitations that day, that moment. Listening to my body. Understanding if it’s just laziness, that makes the sofa calling me or my body sending signals on what is good or bad for me in that moment. Also fading out the self talk my mind is confusing me with. Gently. Accepting. Yes, tenderly.

Pushing and pulling seems rather violent and works the opposite direction, it takes us farther from ourselves. It is this deep connection with ourselves, our centre, that cultivates a confidence, which makes our practice and our lives magical and leaves us deeply touched and happy.

Care for yourself.
